Daddys Birthday

WE did lots of things today on Richs Birthday. Daddy ran a half marathon and we all stayed home baked a cake, moved a 'square' bed into Avas room, went shopping for food and presents! There were many tears, time outs and naps.

I don't think there is a moment that i don't see Clara screaming for a bite to eat, scavenging leftovers on the floor or actually jamming food in her face. Shes a machine. I wish she was determined about walking like she was about food. Not that i care when she walks..but shes breaking our backs making us hold her hands while she walks around the house. And if you don do it her way...she throws herself on the floor and has a tantrum...ugga. I have to say Ava has been great about this phase with Clara. She hasn't really been too jealous or behaving badly for attention.




Ava on the other hand, is usually covered in maker. This past week she had drawn up and down her legs with purple marker....as you can see there is a dot above her eye there. Ava is ALSO a fabulous eater...she just seems to 'regulate' a bit more normally.

Ice Skating on Spy Pond

One cold day we all went down to spy pond to take Ava skating with Rich. Clara took a nap in the stroller as we walked around on the ice and in the park. There were tough areas of skating with the way the ice froze. You know those random bumpy areas....I had forgotten about them. I cant recall the last time I was on skates. Ava wasn't quite herself on the skates so we cut it early and played in the park where her friend Henry from school ended up coming to play too!

This Morning

Clara was feeling better. Ava was up with a fever and the chills last night....so she wasn't in the best of moods. I really think Clara took advantage of this. All Ava wanted to do was lie on the couch and eat her mini wheats. This was the scene this morning...Clara on the couch next to Ava lying on the couch eating her bowl of mini wheats. 5 minutes later...Clara sitting on Ava eating Avas bowl of mini wheats. She doesn't mes around.

Avas Last Days at School

whoa. that is a scary face! So, if you dont know already, we've taken the girls out of school and gotten a 'teacher' at home. Rich likes to say 'teacher' in case Ava were to misunderstand Miss Amys role. Amy was Avas teacher last year at Arlington Heights Nursery School. It just so happened that the stars aligned and our lives were nuts and stressed out with our daily school routine.....so we jumped. We now have a nanny or a 'teacher' at home. I cried when we left school. I hugged all the teachers and said goodbye. BUT the good news is that Ava will be going back for preschool 3 mornings a week in September!

Claras first words

I've been meaning to write about this as well. Time time!!! where are you?!!

About a week ago the girls and I were playing on our big bed being silly. There is a chance NickJR was on. Ava was sitting contently watching the tube and Clara was sitting next to her. Clara reached forward pushed Ava on the tummy as to push her back so she could see her face....and said, "Aga". Her first word was Ava! So cool. She also has said in the past week 'Dada'. She says mama all the time, but im not sure shes really said ,"Mama", as its never directed at me. More or less just babble.

Shes very inclined to scream when she does something 'cool'. Like put magnet son the fridge or get the tubby sponges to stick to the sides of the tub. Also things such as rolling balls to me and then getting them as I roll them back to her. She really is so silly and just a happy happy baby. Not to mention an awesome eater!
